AlUla Heritage Building Assessments
Architectural and MEP assessments of heritage buildings in the traditional old district of AlUla, prepared with IKK INPECTECH for the Royal Commission for AlUla, scoping renovation and adaptive reuse for artists residencies, arts and crafts, hospitality, and food and beverage.
Project Overview
MOK Architects, in association with IKK INPECTECH, prepared architectural and MEP assessments for a series of heritage buildings in the traditional old district of AlUla on behalf of the Royal Commission for AlUla. The study established the present condition of buildings targeted for renovation and adaptive reuse across a mix of cultural and hospitality activities, supporting the Commission’s vision for revitalising the architectural heritage of the area.
Reuse Program
The assessment identified proposed uses distributed across the relevant buildings: artists residencies at 1,000 m², an arts and crafts centre at 4,000 m², a hospitality zone at 4,500 m², and a café at 250 m².
Scope of Work
The work covered architectural and structural inspection of the buildings, assessment of existing mechanical and electrical systems, and preparation of recommendations for restoration and adaptive reuse. The assessment was carried out with full respect for the heritage value of the original buildings and full alignment with Royal Commission for AlUla requirements.
Delivery
The assessment package was delivered in October 2020, providing the Commission with a reliable technical basis for restoration and heritage investment decisions in AlUla’s traditional old district.
Bring us in early.
The earlier we coordinate engineering with architectural intent, the better the project performs — on cost, on schedule, and on compliance.
